Today is our last full day in Asia. Tomorrow night, we’ll be sleeping (hopefully) as we take a red-eye flight to Melbourne, Australia. Looking back at the few months that we spent in Asia, I’m caught with one main thought: it was harder than I expected it to be. We were coming from Southern [...] Yesterday was Halloween. And in a typical year, that would mean that it is Fall; the wind is chilly, the leaves are turning, and baths are warm. And you know what: yesterday, on our tropical island in Thailand, it actually felt like fall. The wind was HOWLING, so much so that during the night we [...] The island of Koh Pha Ngan is primarily known for two things: the monthly Full Moon Party, and yoga/meditation/retreats. One might think these two activities are quite contradictory, and yet they live and breathe together. To understand this dichotomy, one must understand the parties. The Full Moon Party attracts around 8,000 people during low [...] When we first announced that we’d be coming home earlier than planned in December, we received a few emails from concerned family and friends, making sure that we were okay. Was it sickness, or money, or imminent disaster?? None of the above. We were just ready to be home, surrounded by family and friends, [...] Since the beginning of our trip, Tom and I have advocated staying put. That is, staying for weeks or months in towns, cities, or countrysides that we enjoy. In Argentina, we really put this mantra to work, and as a result have a deeper understanding and love for that country. When we were in Southern [...] One of the best gifts you can find as a traveler is a good friend on the road. And that, I can assure you, is no easy task. Over the past ten months, we’ve met a ton of people. Lots of locals, travelers, and ex-pats. Most of the time, it’s a passing hello, maybe a [...] For the past week or so, I haven’t felt super inspired to write. It’s not to say that I’m unhappy; quite the opposite really. But the writing bug has left me wanting, let’s just say. So below are some pictures of our time in Koh Tao, Thailand. The best thing of the past week: scuba [...] Today was our final day in Thailand… that is until late November or December when we make our way back to the islands and fly out of Bangkok on December 14th. We had a good last day. We dropped off the motorbike and walked around the city. We drank fruit (or oreo) smoothies. And [...] Yesterday morning, we arrived back ‘home’, to the guesthouse we’d been staying at in Chiang Mai before we left for the grand road trip. It felt so good to be back, to get a fresh fruit smoothie from across the street, and to turn in our stinky laundry to be clean and dry by the [...] We’re three days into the roadtrip, and are averaging one good adventure per day. The first day, we arrived to the guesthouse in Chiang Dao (once again), and Tom pulled off the bed comforter to take an afternoon nap.
